In Honor of Jackie Robinson Day, Orlando Hudson Announces 3rd Annual Around The Mound Tour

On the anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s Major League debut, San Diego Padres second baseman Orlando Hudson has announced the 3rd Annual Around the Mound Tour, a national program designed to get African American youth interested in the sport of baseball. To date, statistics show that the number of African Americans in Major League Baseball is significantly low. Hudson first launched the Around the Mound Tour in 2009. The tour not only encourages youth to pursue a career on the field, but to also focus on tools to make them successful off the field including the importance of education, doing homework and respect of themselves and others (especially for women).

After the success and overwhelming response of last year’s Around The Mound tour, Hudson has arranged for a 5-city visit during the Padres’ 2011 MLB Season that includes:

San Diego, CA
Atlanta, GA
Boston, MA
Philadelphia, PA
New York, NY

Dates and participating MLB players will be announced soon.
