MLB Star and South Carolina Native Orlando Hudson Presents the Second Annual C.A.T.C.H. Weekend Extravaganza

Darlington, SC – Major League Baseball’s Orlando Hudson will host his second annual charity weekend to benefit his C.A.T.C.H. Foundation. This will be the second year that Orlando hosts these fun and exciting events during MLK Weekend, to create awareness and generate funds for youth coping with Autism.
 
“C.A.T.C.H. WEEKEND” EVENTS:
 
STRIKE OUT! AUTISM – Saturday, January 16th, 7pm at Southgate Bowling Center in Florence, SC, Lane Sponsorship is $500 for up to 6 bowlers, includes food, beverages, logo placement, autographed memorabilia and photograph. This event is open to the public; attendees can pay $15 to bowl and $5 to spectate.
 
CROSSOVER BASKETBALL GAME– Sunday, January 17th, begins at 3:00 pm at Darlington High School in Darlington, SC.  Attendees will be wowed by a National Anthem performance and an action packed basketball game played by Darlington and Florence basketball veterans. Two celebrity coaches will lead the teams and the half-time show is sure to pump up the crowd. Admission: $5/adults and $3/children (12 and under).
 
Orlando Hudson is committed to making a difference and providing the tools for families coping with Autism to move forward.  Hudson created the C.A.T.C.H. (Curing Autism through Change and Hope) Foundation to be an active volunteer for organizations which promote autism research advancement and provide information and resources for the cause.

Major League Baseball’s Orlando Hudson To Host Star Studded Fundraiser For Autism

August 10, 2009, Los Angeles, CA--Orlando Hudson, an AllStar, 3 times Gold Glove recipient and second baseman for the LosAngeles Dodgers, will host his Inaugural Skate for Autism Fundraising Event,benefitting the C.A.T.C.H. Foundation.  This red carpet charity affair,which is open to the public, will be held on Sunday, September 20th atSkateland in Northridge, CA from 8 pm – 12 am.

This is Hudson’s fourth event planned through his C.A.T.C.H. (CuringAutism through Change and Hope) Foundation.  “The goal of the skatingfundraiser is to increase awareness about the needs of autisticchildren and to raise money for necessary research,” said Hudson. 
Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder associated withimpairments in socialization, verbal and nonverbal communication,restricted play and interests, and repetitive motor movements. It’sestimated that approximately one in every 150 children in the UnitedStates has autism or a closely related disorder.The mission of theC.A.T.C.H. Foundation is to provide resources and a support system foryouth coping with autism. 

“I know baseball is my thing, but I wanted to do something a littledifferent to raise funds for C.A.T.C.H., my skating event will be funfor people of all walks of life”, said Hudson. Hudson has invited histeammates and celebrity friends to join in on the worthy cause.Admission for the event is a $25 donation for general admission and a$50 donation for VIP access.

 


C.A.T.C.H. has planned events for April’s Autism Awareness month which are listed below:

C.A.T.C.H. at Dodgers Stadium
Orlando Hudson and the C.A.T.C.H. Foundation will have 30 Autistic children attend the Dodgers’ game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, April 3, 2009.

C.A.T.C.H. Special Zoo Visit
C.A.T.C.H. will sponsor 75 autistic youth and their parents to a trip to Danny’s Farm in Altadena, CA on Saturday, April 4, 2009. Danny’s Farm hosts a program specifically for children with Autism.

Orlando’s Book Reading
Thursday, April 16, 2009 Orlando will host a book reading for children with autism at Loma Alta Elementary School in Altadena, CA. Hudson and his C.A.T.C.H. Foundation volunteers will read to children with special needs in each grade.

Sunday, September 14th - Stikeout! Autism Charity and Bowling Tournament

Orlando Hudson and his C.A.T.C.H. Foundation will host the Stikeout! Autism Charity and Bowling Tournament at Dave and Buster\'s in Phoenix from 8p to 12am. All proceeds will benefit the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SAARC)

Sunday, November 2nd - Walk Now For Autism Event
